The Environmental Protection Agency recommends that every home in America undergo radon testing. Read on to find out why this often-overlooked test is necessary.

 The Dangers of Radon

According to the EPA, 1 out of every 15 homes in America has a problem with radon. Radon is also one of the leading causes of lung cancer in the country. Radon testing thus ensures that your family stays healthy.

Radon Zones Don’t Tell the Whole Story

The EPA categorizes each county based on the amount of radon present. In general, Zone 3 counties have the lowest predicted radon screening levels, and Zone 1 counties have the highest. However, dangerous radon levels can appear in homes or schools within any of the zones.

You can’t just assume that your house is safe because of where you live. The only way to know for sure whether you are being exposed to dangerous levels of radon is to get your home tested.
